The Road to Retirement
Depending On Outdated Retirement Ideas
Let’s face it; most of us don’t really have a solid answer when we are asked the question of how we intend to improve our current financial positions in terms of our expected retirement in the future. The fact is that if there was an easy way to improve our current situations, most of us would probably still not give it a try, because we are brainwashed into believing that this is just how life is and there is nothing we can do to have a better outcome. For this reason, most retirees keep holding on to outdated retirement ideas, without even trying to think about other better ideas.
The concept of retirement was initially born in America and was just a trick to make people work more at first. The idea came into existence after WWII, just to make sure the “silent generation” keeps on working away in the steel mills, automobile plants, warehouses and factories. The promise made then was basically this: “work hard now and save more pennies to spend your retirement in Florida”. This promise turned out to work well for some people.
The few people who were successful in making a great amount of money also saved significant amounts, which made it possible for them to enjoy nonworking and leisure retirements. They got the chance to live in different parts of the country and in special communities. For most people however, the whole thing turned out to be an unkind joke. The people who were unable to save enough had to live meager lives in old clothes, old homes, unpleasant food and no other helpful activities to keep them busy, except watching TV endlessly.
As far as your working life is concerned, the motivation to keep doing interesting things even after retirement basically depends on whether you love what you are doing. There are many other good and easy options to keep you going, which means that you are not at the mercy of outdated retirement ideas that are likely to get you drained of your enthusiasm and energy to work even after retirement. Once you sort out your wants from your needs, retirement overall will become pretty simple for you.
